Latest Captains Report
January 2012
Posted on 26th January 2012 at 4.04AM by CaptainGreeting and welcome to 2012
The year started off brightly for some and then quickly dwindled off into a dark abyss… - now I know why 12 years without staff was such bliss…and moving along to golf…
Kleinmond ! – what a beautiful little town – just a pity it is so far away…especially if tee off is at 8am. I tried as hard as I could to have it later but that’s what they offered us.
In future we ( the committee ) would appreciate it if you would arrive ½ hour prior to your tee off time ..it’s the first time in my life I teed off and ran into the car park ..issue instructions and rush off to the green..
Special thanks must go out to : JP for not cremating the chicken – (he did loose a few pounds standing next to the fire for an hour tho ) ..and to the Clakett family ..especially Sara for making all the salads.. driving thru and leaving almost instantly.
..which brings me on to the “hot potato” for the month – there are certain members of the HGA that go through a lot of effort to make the day a success …these people don’t expect recognition nor praise – if we disregard rules and regulations we make a mockery of the game and the organisers. Our committee meeting take place once a month – we discuss matters relating to the previous games and future games – we try to make it as enjoyable as possible.. .after all , that is what its about …and charity of course.
I respectfully request that you all read the rules that we type out and attach to your score cards – this time we let you off with a R5.00 fine ..the next time we’ll disqualify you , make you eat spinach and make you walk home ..without shoes…or something like that.

We will continue or match play.. if you can’t make it you will forfeit the game. We will also play a relatively new format called ..” cross off ( no, I’m not referring to the Daneel youngsters ) or cross to bear…or crosstitude..or something like that
Instructions will be on score cards

CHARITY DAY
It’s getting closer to the date ..the Sunday AFTER the Argus .
The cost is R 1000.00 per 4ball
We’ve got some exciting sponsors lined up and we’ll award a special prize ( free subscription next year ) to the person who generates the best response …be it – getting the most 4 balls, most wet holes , most prizes etc.
We do encourage that every member organise a 4 ball and that each person donates 1 prize…at this stage I personally would like to thank:
Hans and Elke
Terry and Sandy
…please bring your prizes to Theewater or drop it off at one of the committee members house.
We received a thank you from the Guide Dogs Association – every penny you spend on the golf course improves someone’s life out there.
..and to end it off.. .This one is for you Peter Johnson – get well soon
One doc operated on a person for a hernia. He opened his testis and took the balls out and kept it on the table. At the end of the operation he wanted to put his balls back into the pouch of testis. He searched operation theatre but could not find the balls of the patient. Lastly he told nurse to get two small onions from his lunch box as he cannot keep his testis pouch empty .After that operation he met the same patient in a garden for morning walk. Being a good doc, he asked his patient how he is feeling now. He said "Doc everything is fine, life is very cool except that whenever I scratch my balls, my eyes start watering
Hope to see you all at the Theewaterkloof Gold course.
